How to make PVC flame retardant?
Rigid PVC is characterised by its fire retardant properties, being a self-extinguishing and hardly inflammable material. When the external flame that causes the fire disappears, the combustion of this plastic ceases. These properties prevent the flames from spreading, making it an ideal material for construction, for example. However, the use of plasticizers and other ingredients in the formula to give the end product certain characteristics, lead to a loss of fire retardant properties.
In order to fireproof the formulated PVC, the use of substances for this purpose is necessary on many occasions, such as classic antimony trioxide. Despite of its efficacy, it is a hazardous and forbidden metal according to some standards.

For rigid PVC
With our range of products to fireproof rigid PVC, you can reinforce the parameters you need to improve your end product. Increase the LOI, reduce the smoke production of your current formula and/or reduce the burned surface
For flexible PVC
We offer products which can be mixed with antimomy thereby reducing considerably the amount of this metal in plasticized formulas. These mixtures also lower costs and reduce smoke production while maintaining LOI levels.
